As the former manor house of Ware, the oldest part of the building is thought to date to the late 13th or early 14th century – it has been sympathetically modernised over the years.
The hire space comprises the main hall, off the main hall is the Parlour; a small kitchen, toilet area with disabled toilet and baby changing and there is a small medieval-style garden.
The Hall is a licenced wedding venue and is regularly hired for club/society meetings, exhibitions, seminars, training days, workshops, fitness classes, craft fairs, family gatherings and social events.
The Hall has disabled access and wi-fi.
Place House Hall is owned and managed by the Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust a registered charity 232686 and maintained through hire fees and fundraising
Our wedding co-ordinator will guide you in creating a truly special day, from the booking process to welcoming your guests and everything in
between.
We can hire the site to you for the whole day, giving plenty of time to set it up exactly how you want it. The wedding begins with a short interview
with the registrars, either together as a couple or individually, in the historic panelled Parlour.
The ceremony takes place in the atmospheric surroundings of the medieval hall as you make your vows and sign the register. The room can
accommodate a maximum of 50 guests, plus the couple and staff. The ceremony can be made more personal with your own selected readings and choice of music.
Following the ceremony we serve a complimentary drink to you and
your guests (in the delightful garden if the weather permits), and there is the opportunity to capture your memories with photographs.
Our wedding co-ordinator will guide you in the booking process. Once we have discussed your day, we will complete the paperwork with you.
The cost of hiring Place House Hall is £800 - for this you have the use of the hall from 9am - 10pm (9pm on a Sunday) Or you can choose the hourly rate of £150.

Please note that couples must book their registrar separately and there is an additional fee due for this.
You are most welcome to decorate the hall and provide flowers for your ceremony, and you can discuss this with us when booking.
The historic interior of our ancient hall is a wonderful setting for your photographs as is the garden with its pergola and medieval style planting.
Real flower petals (fresh or dried) only please as we wish to keep our garden litter free and real petals smell good too!
Make your ceremony even more personal with your own music choices, which will guided by the registrar during booking. We can provide a blue tooth speaker for you to use, and we recommend you appoint a guest to take responsibility for this on the day. We are also very happy for live (unamplified) musicians to play and this should be discussed when booking to ensure they can be accommodated.
Pets belonging to the couple and assistance dogs are welcome to join you on your special day.
Some couples wish to make the most of the surroundings by staying at the hall for the reception. You are welcome to provide nibbles with the complimentary drink, an afternoon tea, a banquet style meal or a buffet. Although we are not able to provide facilities for full receptions (DJs, amplified music etc) a small gathering of friends and family can be delightful.

The Hall has a small kitchen which is well equipped and includes hob, cooker, fridge, microwave, urn, kettles, cutlery, cups, saucers, mugs, small plates and tumblers. There is a convenient serving hatch into the main hall.
If you wish to sell alcohol at your event you will need to apply to East Herts Council for a Temporary Event Notice. If you are giving the alcohol away you do not need a licence.
The Hall has 14 trestle tables of varying sizes and 70 chairs
Owing to the close proximity of the neighbours our Premises Licence forbids the use of any sort of amplification. Background music from a small speaker is acceptable.
You may use the screen and projector with permission.

Grade I listed Place House Hall is located in the heart of Ware in secluded Bluecoat Yard.
Parking
There is one parking space for hirers/disabled visitors outside Place House Hall. The nearest car park is a Pay and Display car park at Kibes Lane, 2 minutes walk from Place House Hall.

I have been to Place House Hall for the teas several times over the last few years and it never disappoints. This medieval meeting hall has a special atmosphere and together with a very interesting and long history makes for a lovely afternoon outing. The cream teas are scrumptious, very reasonably priced and all home made and you can even have a glass of Prosecco too.
